List of some fake colleges /degree providers

Please find the link for fake Universities and interestingly some of them are operating in United Kingdom (UK) whilst management is based in the United States or other EU countries . Halifax University and Preston both are listed among these fake institutes. Halifax and Preston are advertising aggressively in India and other Asian countries about the courses in UK campus ,so please be aware of the status of these institutes before joining them.

BBC on Fake Universities

Please check the BBC site on Bogus Universities/colleges operating in UK.This clearly shows that UK Government is not serious in this issue of Recognised Institutes.Still they are operating and cheating thousands of students .Halifax college/University is still operating and everybody knows that they are not recognised by the Indian Government education body and other respective government education bodies of other countries like USA,Japan,China ,Australia ,etc.Although they are taking the advantage of flaws in malaysian education laws but still these degrees remain a mere piece of rubbish paper for other countries and reputed private companies.

The British Government must check the high profile degrees of the staff from the panel of recognised UK Universities and I will not surprise that these staff members degrees itself may have been awarded by other trading names of such fake bodies.

Unrecognised Colleges(by official bodies) in UK

I have just received the telephone call from India from somebody regarding admission to MBA course. I come to know that one institute is charging 6500 pounds for the MBA .Now here the hunt on google goes regarding the status of this dodgy body.Yes this is dodgy ! why?
These colleges just act as academies and some even are more worse than that. Like in India we have open universities and some people open their own institutes to provide the tuition for the open university. Here is the same case and most of the colleges just mention the name of university like university of London external programme ,etc. But some institutes are even more worse they just open their own body like Dublin metropolitan university ,Irish international, Halifax college/university, Preston university, etc. They are taking flaw in the UK law that any registered body can call students if it is offering a 20hrs course. That’s why preston,Halifax are suriving and dodging the students in the united kingdom. The Government of the United Kingdom is not interested at all where the degree is recognised by the universities or not. Even the register opened by home office is a mere eye wash in my view as it just have the details of institutes offering courses of 20hrs or more. However register ensures that college must have 3 small rooms instead of one !

Sometimes I think that the situation of education is much more worse then the Indian state of Bihar which is famous for the fake colleges /universities. Well in my view Bihar is No2 and London tops in the list unofficially.

I feel pity on those students who pay these dodgy colleges/universities 6000GBP for the course and in the end they realise that they are ended up in a such fake institution. So make sure that the name of the college website is ended up with the .ac.uk ,etc. One can also confirm from the Ministry of Human resourses India ,UGC India,Immigration bodies of Canada and Newzealand. If the name of the institute is not listed in their records that means it is more likely to be fake. The exception is to some universities like RGUHS Bangaolore,VTU ,etc as the bodies are slow in updating their records. Then the golden rule of thumb look for .ac.uk,ac.in etc except for the USA.The websites for further information are

1) www.ugc.nic.in
2) http://www.education.nic.in/
3) http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/applications/guides/EG74.html -You have to ask specifically about the university or search the website for the approved colleges.
4) http://glossary.immigration.govt.nz/NR/rdonlyres/CE113D29-EFBF-4924-BA15-00AEF9911F83/0/1080.pdf -Concrete guide for the recognised universities world wide.
5) http://prayatna.typepad.com/education/foreign_universities_in_india/

This list is not exhaustive so you may check with other government autonomous professional bodies.
It is better to take some headache to find out more about the institute which you are going to join. Even in these western countries fraud exists and it is a complete myth that all western institutes are better than the Indian counterparts.Make sure about the university/institute status before finalising any deal with foreign institutes.

Search for the Accommodation

The problems of international student’s starts with accommodation once they reach Great Britain. The students have to face a hard time to look for the accommodation as they have to march on foot for miles. The most of international students can’t spend the money in costly halls of residence so they look outside. One can minimise such harassment by looking for the accommodation on the websites and student union offices. For the big towns like London website is more then enough but for smaller towns website does not carry enough information. The newsagent shops (grocery shops) also carry advertisements regarding the rental properties .The room rental advertised at the grocers shops and local property newspapers are found to be cheaper than compare to in the websites and the estate agents. In London it is better to look for the ads on the grocer shops as they are found to be cheaper.

The some websites are mentioned here below which may be useful to you

Nursing At University of Sunderland

Nursing At University of Sunderland

Well for overseas /international students the nursing course of this university is a boon. The reason: very cheap fees due to some funding by EU due to deprived Area .The people who had done the diploma of nursing from India will be highly benefited. I heard that a fee is about 2000GBP/year for the international students (diploma qualified) and course duration is of 3 years. For further information please contact the Sunderland Nursing School. If you are from India then do not worry as Indian banks give Rs 7 lakh lone without security as per Indian banking laws. However it is not common that some bank managers may pressurise the international students for bank guarantee but it is not mandatory. Upto Rs 7 lakh no bank guarantee is required by law. So remind the bank manager about this thing if you feel uneasy. The advantage is that after completion of this course one will get work permit in UK and the salary of Nurses is quite good.

Please check the following links of Sunderland University for further information

Teaching as a career in United Kingdom

The demand of teachers exists in England but it is not easy to get the job for a foreign national due to accent /language problems. But still lot of people find the way into teaching jobs. First of all the climate in UK schools is totally different from India and other Asian countries. One must understand that students will not respect teachers like in India and further local language problems. Now if you are desperate to settle in the United Kingdom legally and in case you don’t have medical qualifications and also don’t want to marry British subject then teaching is the best route. In short to secure your job you must gain the qualified teacher status. Please check www. teach.gov.uk and www.teachertree.org.uk/routes.htm for further details.

You can start the teaching career as a teaching assistant for which number of colleges offers a NVQ short courses which are obviously very cheap also. The one of the college is Dreamharvest ( www.dreamharvest.net ) near London. The placement is easy to find in the Asian area if you feel problem with the ascent and other things. Then later on if you feel better can opt for qualified teacher status course which may be supported /funded by the school. But remember initially it may be very hard for you to get into the UK life which is totally different from India.

Agencies

Some agencies offer regular/part time/contract jobs in teaching. It may be worth to ask them for further detailed information.

List of some good postgraduate courses

List of some good postgraduate courses

This list is designed for the students who want to study as well as work. The course which you join depends on your pocket or money you want to spend.I am recommending here some postgraduate courses which may be useful for the International students who cannot afford the costly universities. The bitter truth is that expect for medicine/healthcare and teaching it is difficult to get the job as a overseas national. So there is no point in spending money if you think that by studying in some good university you will get the work permit. However in the case of London business school ,cranfield university ,London School of Economics the things are different as fees is minimum 25000 GBP.But still does not guarantee you a work permit .The list of some medium colleges for post-graduate courses is as follows:

1) Queen Mary (University of London)- http://www.qmw.ac.uk/ - 12 months course in finance

2) University of Central England- http://www.uce.ac.uk - 18 months courses in finance

3) Bradford college- http://business.bilk.ac.uk/business/aboutbusiness.htm- 12-18 months courses in MA international business and marketing.

4) West London College- http://www.w-l-c.co.uk - 18 months MBA course

If I am not short of money then I will choose preferably the Queen Mary because of the brand. But the latter 3 courses are better as they are of 18 months duration during which one can cover up the costs of living and fees.

Which course to join

The most of international students find it difficult to choose the course. In my view you must pick the course according to your goal. If your goal is to join the market in your home country then join the course which has better prospects in your country. The most of postgraduate courses last for 12 months which may be useful for the people who are elderly or left their job to pursue the course. In the UK life is very costly so I advice international students to join the postgraduate courses of 18 months duration. During these 18 months you will be able to at least cover all the expenses.
